Journal Prompts

Prompts for the Journey
The Daily Check-in
IN THE MORNING
— This morning I feel
— Today I need

— Three things I’d love to get done today
IN THE EVENING
— Today was

— I'm letting go of
— Three things I’m grateful for

When you’re facing a blank page and feel you have nothing to say, warm up with this
exercise:
— Write down the date and time
— Make notes on where you are and what you see around you
— Notice your other senses, too — what do you smell? Hear? Taste? Touch?
— Take a deep breath, in and out, and ask yourself: How do I feel right now? Write it down.
— Take another deep breath, in and out, and ask yourself: How does my body feel right
now? Write it down.
— Keep your pen on the page and see if anything else wants to be written. . .
Start with a description of right now and let that be your way in. Hopefully by the time you’ve
worked through the list above your hand will continue with the thoughts in your head, letting them
fall onto the page in a stream of consciousness.
Thinking about journaling
— Why do you want to create a journaling practice? What would that look like for you?
— In an ideal world, how would it fit into your lifestyle?
— How would you feel if someone read your journal?
— How will you keep your journaling practice sacred and just for you?
When you have time for a juicy journaling session:
— If I lived in alignment with my soul every day, what would my life look like?
— What do I need to let go of right now?
— What am I outgrowing?
— To me, freedom is. . .
— I have the power to. . .
— The secret I could never tell anyone
— I don’t give myself enough credit for. . .
— I am at my best when I. . .
— My body is beautiful because. . .
When you’re frustrated
— What does my head need right now?
— What does my body need right now?
— What do I know is true about this situation?
— What do I know is false about this situation?
— What’s my next step?
— What new things are calling to me?
— How can I shift my perspective?
— How can I go deeper and wider within myself?
— What can I do to get back into my flow?
— What’s blocking my intuitive knowing?
