mpulse Buying
What is the reason behind my impulse buying and my apparent need for instant gratification? Control wasn't an issue when I had a self-imposed ban on buying purses and shoes. Not only did I breeze through the one year, I decided to continue for another year. However, now that I've become so addicted to Instagram and the links to Amazon, it takes mere seconds to have something on the way. For instance, I ordered a dish scrubber that holds soap, a scrub daddy on the end, and new kitchen sponges. Yes, I need replacements for both, but I did not NEED the pinecone ornament for my pen holder. I wanted a winter one. I showed minimal restraint in that I delayed the arrival of some items to have them all arrive together. Honestly, I don't see the logic. Do I care if Amazon's owner saves a few pennies? No. I feel I'm providing job security for my UPS guy.
The Visit and Post-Visit Conversations
Our Christmas visit went well. There were some fun, light conversations but nothing of substance. Fortunately, the visit had more time, and everyone parted on good terms.
Since their departure, I've received one of the "I don't know why she's mad at me" phone calls. I also received a sober, lengthy "catch-up" phone call. Brady shared a podcast/YouTube program called "Put the Shovel Down." I've only listened to a couple, but I think she's more what I was looking for than the meetings.
I partially followed my assignment. I did indulge in a pair of UGG slippers. Brandon requested some, so I took it as a sign. I also bought two lounge outfits from CHicos; I always buy myself a new outfit for Christmas at home. The indulging part came naturally. I did not wrap or write a thank you note. I'd have carpel tunnel if I wrote myself thank-you notes for my frequent indulgences.
Brady gave me a framed photo of Jim. I took the photo and the memory is a treasure. He was wearing his leather bomber jacket and had just completed his flight on an old B-52 bomber. He loved those leather jackets and I bought
